Paget disease of the Breast

The symptoms of Paget’s disease of the breast are similar to those of inflammatory breast cancer for the reason that they may be mistaken easily for an infection in the breast. Paget’s disease of the breast is an extremely rare kind of breast cancer.

This disease affects the areola and nipple. Its symptoms include a lump beneath the areola and nipple, a burning feeling, scaly or flaky nipple skin, redness and the like. The nipple will likely appear inverted or flat. The skin of the areola or nipple may ooze, harden, or get crusty. There might be skin changes early on, thus it may appear as if the symptoms are disappearing.

It is imperative to bear in mind that there are some skin conditions that may not have a direct relation to the breasts but can also cause the breasts to itch. Contact dermatitis, fungal infections and eczema can also lead to the itching of breasts.

Take into account whether or not you’ve recently changed your old laundry detergent or bath soap, because this may be the reason behind your itchy breasts. In the event that symptoms persist or become worse and/or occur with nipple discharge, you have to immediately visit your doctor.
